Our week has been a busy one with some vacation time and lots of things happening with the kids. We’ve had a really great Summer (even though the weather hasn’t been all that great!) and we’re just trying to soak up the last few weeks before school is back in full swing. I’ve spent some time these past few months acquiring some really beautiful blue and white pieces to add to my collection. It’s no secret how much I love to collect these beauties and I can truly say I’ve been one lucky girl with all of my recent finds. Today I’m sharing my newest pieces, and some fantastic sources where you can purchase some blue and white too. Whether you’re budget is big or small, I’ve got some great resources for you.

I was trying to find the right spot to gather all of my new pieces together to showcase – and believe it or not, it was not easy to come up with one. We have very little wall space in our home, so the ideal backdrop was tricky…I finally settled on compiling it all here on our built-in bookshelves with the beautiful Summer light coming through our french doors. I may have pushed the couch into the kitchen to pull this off, but it worked out pretty well I think!
I’ve been collecting seriously now for about seven or eight years, or more, and I’ve been adding quite a bit to my collection since this past Spring. I have to tell you, my absolute favorite spot to score unique pieces is Chinatown or vintage shops. They’re often imperfect pieces, so you have to be ok with that, and the great thing about them is you can bargain way below the asking price.
I love this pair of vases I grabbed on my last trip to Chinatown with my sisters (the two flanking this vignette) – I would say most of these new pieces are from there. If you have a Chinatown in your downtown area, you’d be amazed at what you can find there. There are so many treasures to discover. You have to be patient though, and really take your time scouring though the shelves, as many of these little shops have piles of stuff, sometimes rows deep.
If you’re willing to take the time, I promise you’ll find some amazing pieces!
I’ve found ginger jars large and small, vases, bowls, dishes, it’s endless. I love to style them in a vignette to create a statement, but I also love a large piece to stand on it’s own as well. You can see how I use my collection in the different posts below.

Blue and white is such a big trend right now, and available in so many retailers and online stores, which is a blessing if you love to collect too! It’s so great to see it being used in so many homes and in so many different ways – I love to see how everyone uses their pieces in their own way and I’m always perusing pinterest, design books and my favorite magazines for ideas. My friends have it, my mother has it, my sisters and sister in law have it, my blogging friends have it, it’s everywhere! 
Because it’s such a classic, it’s a trend that is not too trendy in any way, in my opinion. It will never go out of style and is here to stay.
I’ll tell you, this is a trend that I’m so happy to see, because I once had so many amazing pieces in my twenties that I threw out when we moved from our apartment to our first home. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was young and not so smart haha. We do still have the kitchen table my hubby built, thankfully, down in our basement, and it’s a piece I’ll never part with. The top is handmade, blue and white Mexican tile, and it’s such a gorgeous table. Right now it serves as a storage shelf downstairs, but I’ll share it here someday with you!
I found many of these bowls in Chinatown as well, and the handmade tea cups are from Etsy. The blue and white cheese dish, also from Etsy (in the shot above), is such a gorgeous piece that I recently acquired. It’s handmade and original, made by a local artisan. This little trinket dish was a recent find in a local gift shop. I love to mix my blue and white patterns also. You don’t have to stick to all one look or theme when you’re collecting. Mix the colors and patterns, and even the origin. You can find many gorgeous textiles, porcelain and pottery pieces from many different cultures and countries… Japan, Morocco, Turkey, Spain, England, Mexico, the list goes on…
I could get lost in these beautiful patterns – there are so many endless options. I use my dishes and bowls all over the house, as many of you already know.
I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of having these in our home, and I certainly will never make the same mistake again by getting rid of my collection! My mother still has the same pieces in her home today, that were there when we grew up. I’m hoping my kids (or at least my daughter) will develop a love for this classic beauty the way my sisters and I have.
